The new MacBook Pro and MacBook updates have just been posted on the Apple Store. Sadly no new enclosure design - just faster processors for the MacBooks and more powerful graphics processors and Multi-Touch trackpads for the Pros.
This makes our prediction of new MacBook Pro enclosures following the design style of MacBook Air less likely, at least for the time being. We still think it's probable by the end of the year.
sad news...
ReplyDeletebut what do you think of WWDC as an event to launch newer, redesigned a macbook/pro ?
105 days certainly wouldn't be the shortest time between updates for the range. When is Nehalem supposed to be ready?

ReplyDeleteI don't have any insider info, so my guess on Nehalem is as good as yours - although as I understand, it's for desktops and servers rather than notebooks.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe that Apple will leave it's notebook range this inconsistent for long - Apple has always historically rolled it's new design styles across its entire range. The current enclosures for the MacBook Pros are incredibly old, and are sure to see a revision soon - perhaps not by WWDC, but I'd be surprised if it's not refreshed by the end of the year.
